(never home)maker’s simple sandwich


What I am about to share with you is my all-time favorite sandwich. In fact, in our house, it is most affectionately referred to as The Ashley Sandwich — I eat it (at least) once a week, usually on Friday night … and then again on Sunday.

It’s easy enough to assemble. Just get some wheat rolls (or ciabatta bread), a ball of fresh mozzarella, a vine-ripened tomato, some fresh basil, olive oil, and salt. 



Pile the mozzarella high.
Lay the slices of tomato on top …
and then the basil.
Drizzle the olive oil on the top slice …
and sprinkle with salt.
